Kenya Kwanza candidate for the Nairobi Senatorial post in the forthcoming General election Bishop Margaret Wanjiru has called on the government to look into the welfare of Community health Volunteers.

Wanjiru says the role Community Health Volunteers (CHV’s) play in healthcare dispensation is critical to the health provision in the Kenyan setting.

“Community Health Volunteers play a great role in our communities by making sure they attend to the well-being of the sick and elderly members. It is the duty of the Government to make sure they are facilitated and empowered to carry out these important task.

As the next Nairobi Senator I will push the County Government to honor the Agreement that CHVs signed and make sure it is fully implemented.”

The aspiring senator made these remarks after meeting Westlands Constituency CHVs in the company of the Hon Millicent Omanga, who is eyeing the Nairobi Woman Representative position and Hon Nelson Havi who will battle it out with Tim Wanyonyi for the Westlands MP seat.
