Credit Bank recorded a double victory at the Kenya Bankers Association (KBA) Interbanks Tournament, with its men’s squash team winning the title and Chief Executive Officer Betty Korir emerging victorious in the CEOs’ Run.

The bank’s men’s team defeated Absa to clinch the squash title, while its women’s team finished fourth in their category during the two-week competition held from October 3 to 17.

The tournament brought together teams from across the banking industry for competitions in squash, chess, athletics and darts at the Institute of Monetary Studies and KCB Group grounds.

Korir, who also serves as KBA deputy chair, said sporting activities help strengthen teamwork, discipline and accountability among employees.

“Sport encourages discipline, resilience, collaboration and accountability, qualities that are just as important in the workplace as they are on the field or court,” she said.

She noted that employee engagement and motivation were essential to institutional excellence, adding that sporting activities allow staff to build relationships and pursue shared goals outside their regular duties.

According to Korir, a cohesive workforce is better positioned to solve problems, collaborate effectively and respond to customer needs.

Credit Bank also participated in the annual CEOs’ Run, which brings together banking industry executives to promote healthy lifestyles and strengthen professional relationships beyond formal business engagements.

“While financial institutions compete in the marketplace, we share a broader responsibility to contribute to a strong, progressive and resilient banking sector,” Korir said.

The bank said it would continue supporting initiatives that promote employee wellbeing, collaboration and healthy competition, noting that such activities contribute to organisational performance and stronger relationships across the banking industry.
