NAIROBI, Kenya, August 14, 2025 – Airtel Africa Foundation has unveiled its Tech For Her program, an ambitious digital skills initiative targeting women aged 18–40 in Kenya, Zambia, and Uganda, aiming to close the gender gap in Africa’s technology sector.

Delivered in partnership with Tertiary DNS, the five-week online program will train participants in Linux Administration, Cybersecurity, and Data Analytics. The flexible learning model offers weekday sessions for non-working participants and weekend classes for working professionals. Trainees will complete over 100 hours of instruction and benefit from 12 months of post-training skill development support.

Top-performing graduates, scoring 90% or higher, will qualify for internships at Airtel Africa and mentorship from technology industry leaders. The program reserves 30% of slots for women in rural and underserved areas and 40% for those from low-income households.

“Africa’s digital revolution cannot reach its full potential without gender equity,” said Dr. Segun Ogunsanya, Chair of Airtel Africa Foundation. “By equipping women with industry-relevant skills and opportunities, we are investing in sustainable economic transformation.”

Currently, only 30% of tech professionals in sub-Saharan Africa are women, with just 2–8% holding software development roles, according to UNESCO. Annika Poutiainen, a foundation committee member, said the initiative will “create a pipeline of female tech leaders to unlock opportunities both in Africa and globally.”

Applications close on August 21, 2025. Interested participants can apply via Airtel’s country-specific portals:
