Standard Chartered Bank has officially launched the 22nd edition of the Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon (SCNM), setting its sights on attracting a record-breaking 30,000 participants from over 100 nationalities. The marathon is scheduled for Sunday, 26 October 2025, and will once again be hosted at Uhuru Gardens, Nairobi.

Now a cornerstone in Kenya’s sporting calendar, the SCNM is renowned not only for its competitive edge but also for its lasting impact on communities across the country. Since its inception, the event has drawn over 300,000 runners and raised KES 850 million to support transformative social initiatives.

The 2025 edition aims to raise over KES 175 million in both cash and in-kind donations, with all proceeds going toward Futuremakers by Standard Chartered—the Bank’s flagship initiative aimed at equipping young people, especially women and persons with disabilities, with education, employability, and entrepreneurship skills.

“The Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon continues to offer an unforgettable experience, bringing together runners from all walks of life to challenge themselves and celebrate the spirit of community,” said Joyce Kibe, Head of Corporate Affairs, Brand and Marketing for Standard Chartered Kenya & Africa.

She added: “What makes this event truly special is that every step taken contributes to real change through our Futuremakers initiative, which supports young people, women, and persons with disabilities in Kenya.”

The 2025 marathon will include seven race categories:

  • Full Marathon (42km)
  • Half Marathon (21km)
  • 10km Race
  • 21km Wheelchair Race
  • 5km Family Fun Run
  • CEO Challenge
  • Corporate Challenge

This inclusive approach attracts a wide range of participants—from elite international athletes to families, executives, and amateur runners.

Last year’s marathon featured 206 elite runners, up from 73 in 2023, underlining SCNM’s rising global reputation. Organizers anticipate even more international elite athletes this year.

Registration is now open at www.nairobimarathon.com, with a deadline of 30 September 2025. Entry fees are set at KES 2,500.
