The Institute of Risk Management (IRM), the leading global body for enterprise risk management, has officially registered its African subsidiary, the Risk Management Hub in Africa, to enhance risk management standards and support professionals across the continent.
The hub, headquartered in Nairobi, will spearhead initiatives including professional training, internationally recognised qualifications, executive education, advisory services, research, advocacy, and thought leadership.
It will also partner with governments, regulators, corporates, SMEs, NGOs, and academia to embed risk management into Africa’s growth and transformation agenda.
“Our goal is to empower organisations and leaders to navigate complex risks with confidence and make informed decisions that drive growth and resilience,” said Joyce Ndirangu, Director of Strategy and Partnerships, who is leading the Hub’s strategic rollout.
“With Africa projected to host some of the fastest-growing economies and youngest populations globally, the hub is strategically positioned to shape risk management excellence across all sectors.”
The phased establishment of the Hub aligns with IRM’s global growth strategy, with Africa identified as a key priority region.
The Hub will work closely with the IRM headquarters in the UK while tailoring its programmes to regional needs, including climate change, ESG, technology, and financial innovation risks.
Dorothy Maseke, Chairperson of the Risk Management Hub in Africa, said the launch marks a milestone for the continent’s risk professionals: “The registration of this subsidiary is the culmination of years of dedicated work by regional groups and risk management professionals across Africa.”
