A section of the Nairobi County ODM Women’s League has called for immediate elections to revitalize the party’s women’s wing, citing the need for fresh leadership and innovative ideas.
The group argued that the outgoing chairlady, who has served for nearly 20 years, has exhausted her leadership style and no longer reflects the aspirations of modern-day members.
“Political seats are not anyone’s personal property to occupy for life. The modern era calls for fresh ideas, new strategies, and innovative leadership,” the statement said.
While the members endorsed Madam Rosemary Okuta as their preferred candidate, they emphasized that the election should be conducted in a fair and transparent manner to allow members to freely choose their next leader.
They said the next chair should prioritize grassroots empowerment and genuine representation rather than personal or political interests.
