President William Ruto has launched the Kenya Film Classification Board’s (KFCB) state-of-the-art Cine-Mobile Truck, a flagship project under the #SinemaMashinani initiative designed to boost the country’s creative industry at the grassroots.
The launch took place at Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology during the 2025 International Youth Day celebrations.
The President commended KFCB for pioneering the project and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to helping creatives earn from their talent through initiatives aligned with the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).
The Cine-Mobile Truck is fitted with a 63-square-metre LED screen, a hydraulic lift system, a dedicated power generator, and a high-capacity sound system capable of serving up to 800 people.
Fully self-sufficient, the unit will tour various parts of the country to screen films, train young talent, and promote clean content consumption.
The #SinemaMashinani programme seeks to address long-standing challenges in the film industry, including inadequate content classification facilities and limited exhibition platforms.
It also aims to nurture talent, promote Kenyan culture, and create sustainable jobs in the creative sector.
According to KFCB, the mobile cinema will work alongside the Nairobi Film Centre to expand access to film opportunities, foster local storytelling, and drive economic growth within the industry.
