A section of young people have called for the immediate firing of Kenya Railways Managing Director Philip Mainga over his corrupt dealings and failure to honor court summons in over twenty cases which have been filed against him.
Addressing the Press led by Daniel Kahindi, the youth activists have claimed that the Kenya Railways MD has grabbed property belonging to the corporation and developed his private business.
They have called on the head of State, President William Ruto, to fire him immediately as they have called for repossession of the said grabbed public property.
“Mainga is among the top government corporation Managing Directors with corruption cases. He grabbed a plot belonging to KRC and built a private hotel, “Chocolate City”. We demand his sacking immediately, with the government responding by repossessing the illegally acquired property,” the youth activists have claimed and made their demands.
They have called on the relevant authorities, including the Assets Recovery Authority, the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to move with speed and investigate the allegations and recover the grabbed property.
“He has over twenty graft-related cases, including several filed by us. He is siphoning lots of money, knowing that he will be leaving office early next year. The President should fire him immediately, and the Assets recovery authority, together with EACC and the DCI, to move with speed and look into this matter,” they urged.
This is even as Mainga has been accused of hiding bulk cash, which he receives as bribes at his homes which has prompted the cash for a search of warrant call by the activists. He has never honored court summons, and he is always breaking the law.
