Guaranty Trust Bank (Kenya) Limited has launched a new banking solution aimed at advancing financial inclusion among women in Kenya.
Dubbed GTMalkia, the product targets women in the middle to high-income brackets, offering a blend of financial services, lifestyle benefits, and financial literacy support.
The GTMalkia account is designed to cater to women’s evolving financial needs, offering features such as interest-earning savings, access to credit and debit cards, and an annual financial literacy conference tailored for women.
Account holders will also benefit from discounts at selected spas, gyms, health centres and boutiques, as well as health check-ups and luxury rewards for top savers.
In addition, the bank introduced GTBinti, a sub-account for teenage girls that includes debit cards and mentorship tools to support early financial education.
The initiative aims to empower the next generation of women by promoting financial literacy from a young age.
Guaranty Trust Bank’s East Africa Regional Managing Director, Jubril Adeniji, said the product responds to a growing demand for more inclusive and personalized banking experiences.
“This account is more than just a financial tool. It recognises the multifaceted needs of today’s women—financially, professionally, and personally,” Adeniji said during the launch event. He also hinted at plans for a complementary product to serve teenage boys in future.
According to available data, women represent a significant portion of Kenya’s workforce and are increasingly active in both formal and informal sectors.
Of the estimated 387,418 middle to high-income earners in the country, about 36.1% are women, underlining the need for gender-focused financial solutions.
The GTMalkia product is now available across GTBank Kenya branches.
