As Kenyans prepare for Madaraka Day, Coca-Cola has launched a special campaign to connect travellers on the move.

Part of the global “Share a Coke” initiative, the campaign includes surprise giveaways of personalized Coke cans to passengers using public transport. Whether you’re heading home for the holidays or escaping to the coast, Coca-Cola aims to make your journey a little more personal.

Over 1,000 Easy Coach passengers travelling to western Kenya and Kampala are receiving two Coke cans each: one with their name and another to share with a fellow traveller.

At Jambojet check-in counters, passengers flying to Mombasa, Ukunda, Malindi, and Kisumu are also being greeted with personalized cans.

“This Madaraka Day, Coca-Cola is bringing a sense of celebration directly to travellers,” said Paul Oloo, Senior Communications Manager at Coca-Cola East and Central Africa. “It’s about turning simple journeys into shared moments. A small act like sharing a Coke can spark a smile, start a conversation, and remind people that even strangers can feel like friends—especially on a day that celebrates our unity as a nation.”

The heart of the campaign is connection. In a world where people travel side by side without exchanging a word, Coca-Cola’s thoughtful gesture is sparking conversations and bringing people together.

The campaign is part of the recently relaunched “Share a Coke” experience, which returned to Kenya this April with a fresh Gen Z twist. Originally introduced in 2011, the campaign now focuses on personalized experiences, real-life moments, and social sharing.

It’s not just for those on the move. Expect to see more “Share a Coke” events in malls, campuses, eateries, and public spots across Kenya. Online, the campaign is gaining traction through the hashtag #ShareaCoke, where users are sharing photos, videos, and stories of their shared Coke moments.

So if you’re travelling this Madaraka Day, don’t be surprised if a cold Coke and a new friend find their way to your seat.
