Kelvin Shaban Gichuhi, a visionary businessman with a deep passion for community development, is leading a movement of hope and transformation in Roysambu Constituency. From his humble beginnings in Kamae, where he experienced the hardships of eviction and hunger, Kelvin’s journey embodies resilience and determination. Today, he is channeling his experiences into initiatives that uplift his community and inspire others to dream of a brighter future—Ipo Siku (A Better Day is Coming).
Kelvin is a firm believer in the power of women to transform society. His vision includes creating platforms to support women across all five wards in Roysambu, ensuring they have equal opportunities to thrive socially and economically. “When women succeed, the entire community prospers,” he says, underscoring his commitment to gender equality and empowerment.
Education stands at the core of Kelvin’s mission. He is dedicated to providing free and transparent bursary allocations to ensure that students from underprivileged backgrounds have access to quality education. Kelvin believes education is the key to breaking the cycle of poverty and unlocking the potential of Roysambu’s youth.
For the younger generation, Kelvin is creating pathways to success through various initiatives. Programs like the Kelvin Shaban Cup promote sportsmanship and unity, while plans for computer training, technical skills development, and innovative ventures such as community car wash projects aim to equip the youth with valuable skills and income-generating opportunities.
Kelvin’s leadership philosophy is rooted in service rather than self-interest. “Let’s serve the public as leaders and not as politicians. Politicians aim for the next election, but leaders aim for the next generation,” he says. He challenges fellow leaders to prioritize the well-being of the community over personal or political gains.
Having grown up in poverty, Kelvin intimately understands the struggles faced by many in Roysambu. His personal experiences have fueled his determination to fight for the rights of residents. In areas like Kamae and Juakali, he is focused on eliminating cartels and accelerating the issuance of title deeds to secure land ownership for local families.
Kelvin’s slogan, “Ipo Siku,” reflects his unwavering belief in a better future for Roysambu. From struggling to pay rent and going without meals to achieving business success, his story serves as an inspiration to the youth. “Don’t select jobs, and don’t lose hope in life,” he advises, encouraging young people to persevere and remain optimistic.
Outside his community work, Kelvin enjoys traveling and reading, pursuits that fuel his passion for justice and fighting oppression. His story is not just about overcoming challenges but about transforming those challenges into a driving force for meaningful change.
Through his dedication, Kelvin Shaban Gichuhi is not only inspiring hope but also laying the foundation for a stronger, united, and empowered Roysambu—a testament to the belief that true leadership lies in serving others and creating lasting impact.
