ZEE World’s Dance Naija Dance Set To Take Nigeria By Storm!

Zee Entertainment’s popular general entertainment channel Zee World, DStv channel 166 and GOtv channel 25 will keep its viewers glued to their seats and screens with a dance reality show like no other. 

Dance Naija Dance, Zee World’s dance competition aims to reveal the best dance crew in Nigeria.

Zee World has been a trailblazer in redefining entertainment across Africa over the years with being the first to dub Indian series and movies dubbed in English, showcasing the first Afro-Indian Telenovela Mehek in 2018 and the first Afro-Bollywood fusion dance challenge, Dance Africa Dance in 2021.

 Zee World has evolved into a brand of global celebration bringing Africa and India together. Dance Naija Dance offers a fusion of Nigerian-Indian dance moves uniting both cultures through music, vibrancy, colour and diversity.

Dance Naija Dance is an expression of dance that transcends all barriers and boundaries and, in this Afro-Indian explosion there will be two dance champions: one Team and one Solo winner.

The show will be anchored by a mix of Nollywood and Bollywood personalities and dancers. These include the Hosts – Hero Daniels and Pelumi Buari, Choreographers/Mentors – Sashin Kandhai and Kenneth Agabata; while Kunle Remi and Uraysha Ramracheya will be the resident judges.

With the dance competition is set to start airing on 6 August at 7pm, it will set the stage on fire with the top 16 finalists selected from hundreds of entries across Nigeria. Dance Naija Dance will air in 52 countries in Africa and the Indian Ocean Islands.

The dance show is expected to run for 10 weeks, 2 episodes every week, and the winners will walk away with millions of Naira in cash from Zee World and hampers and vouchers from Munchit, Checkers Custard, Shal’artem, Betawomen and KFC.

HOSTS

Hero Daniels

Hero Daniels Ifeanyichukwu is a Nigerian comedian, dancer, actor and television host.

He has held several hosting roles with different TV Stations.  In 2017, he was selected to represent Nigeria at TLC’s Next Great Presenter search held in South Africa and organised by TLC Africa.

Hero has hosted 100s of events – in March 2022, he hosted an 11-hour live show for the grand finale of Come Play Naija.

Pelumi Buari

Pelumi Buari is a presenter, actor, content creator, dancer with an energy that is unmatched and a love of art that she expresses through her craft and fashion. 

Her versatile and charismatic personality has seen her host corporate events alike.  Pelumi is currently a presenter for the EbonyLife group.

Resident Judge: Uraysha Ramracheya

Uraysha Ramracheya is a South African Mauritian actress and performer. She is best known for her portrayal as ‘Baby’ in the hit movie ‘Trippin with the Kandasamys’, which was released on Netflix in 190 countries worldwide.

Uraysha is a trained classical dancer, with a repertoire that spans genres such as Kathak and Indian Folk, Contemporary, Bollywood and Fire Art.

She has performed for various dignitaries and was a guest judge on Dance Africa Dance in 2021. 

Resident Judge: Kunle Remi

Oyekunle Opeyemi Oluwaremi professionally known as ‘KUNLE REMI’ is a graduate of the prestigious New York Film Academy.   Kunle is an award-winning Nigerian actor, film maker, content creator, entrepreneur, model and TV host.

He broke into the entertainment scene with the 7th edition of ‘The Gulder Ultimate Search’ which was held in 2010.

Kunle is best known for his versatile roles in a number of award winning series & movies such as Tinsel, A Naija Christmas, Forbidden, Lagos Cougar Reloaded, Introducing the Kujus and Purple Heart.
Dance Mentors/Choreographers

Sashin Kandhai

Globally Acclaimed film and stage choreographer, Sashin Kandhai is a South African born performing artist and a public figure. He is a 3-time Bollywood dance champion, TV personality, theatre actor, stage director and MC.

Sashin specializes in Bollywood and semi classical dance and has performed in many countries and was awarded for his choreographic work at the Miss India Worldwide in Mauritius in 2019.

He was a mentor and choreographer on the first season of Dance Africa Dance by Zee World on DStv channel 166.  Sashin is the choreographer of the hit South African movie series The Kandasamys on Netflix.

Kenneth Agabata

Kenneth Agabata popularly known as “Mr. Ken.” is a well-rounded creative artist.  He is a dancer, choreographer, event host, painter, fitness enthusiast and filmmaker. 

He spent a huge part of his life teaching dance in studios, schools, lounges and corporate spaces.  Kenneth is a National Sport Festival bronze medalist in aerobics gymnastics.

Resident DJ: DJ Dayzee

Amaechi Joy Chioma known as DJ Dayzee is a Nigerian born entertainer.  A professional DJ and also a graduate with a B.sc in Economics from the “Republic of Benin” 

DJ Dayzee is an exceptional DJ that takes her crowd on a journey with her music leaving no one behind. She has worked with the likes of  Banky W, Oap Toolz, Budweiser etc.   DJ Dayzee is a DJ on radio station The Beat 99.9fm and was also on The14th Headies, Big Brother Naija season 6.
